Austin’s Sprint store closed around the beginning of this month, according to Melinda Tiemeyer, a spokesperson for the company.

The lease on the store’s lot in the strip mall on Eighth Street Northwest near Walmart was up for renewal when the manager decided to close it.

“The Sprint agent at this location simply chose not to renew the lease at this time,” Tiemeyer said. “We’ll review opportunities for distribution in the area at a later date.” Customers can find the nearest Sprint store location at 641 W. Bridge St. in Owatonna, she added.

The strip mall is owned by Timber Austin Properties. A representative of the company was not available for comment.
