A registered sex offender with multiple pending cases was convicted of criminal sexual conduct in Mower County Court on Friday.
Brian Broulik, 40, of Blooming Prairie, was sentenced to 77 months — more than six years — in prison, with credit for time served since March 16, 2012, for felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim 13 to 15 years old.
Broulik will also be a registered predatory offender for life.
Broulik has an open case in Dodge County Court for felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct for fondling a 4-year-old in May 2012. He also has open cases in Olsmsted County Court, to which he pleaded not guilty to violating a restraining order for being in contact with a teenage girl and possessing a pornographic work that contains minors.
According to court complaints, Broulik arranged to meet with an Austin teen in March while the teen’s parents were gone. In May, an FBI agent also served Broulik with a federal search warrant and found child pornography on Broulik’s phone, including video of him allegedly fondling the 4-year-old child, according to the Dodge County Court complaint.
Broulik is already listed as a Level 3 sex offender, as he was convicted in 1997 of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in Steele County and again of the same charge in Rice County in 1998. He also violated his terms of offender registration in Freeborn County in 2007.
