Updated marriage applications for same-sex couples wishing to marry on or after Aug. 1 will be available in Mower County on Monday.
The forms will be available at the Mower County Auditor/Treasurer’s Office. The office still has unused applications for bride and groom; however, the new applications list applicant No. 1 and applicant No. 2 for when same-sex marriages will be recognized starting Aug. 1.
Same-sex couples who wish to marry on Aug. 1 will need to submit their applications by July 26. All marriage applications are not validated until five days after submission.
Gov. Mark Dayton and the DFL-led Legislature legalized same-sex marriage in May. Some gay couples have already started applying for marriage licenses in other counties.
