Charles D. Kinney, 74

Charles (Chuck) D. Kinney, 74, of Dodge Center, passed peacefully at his home Monday, July 1, 2013, from pulmonary fibrosis. Chuck never smoked a day in his life.

Charles was born Sept. 14, 1938, in New Providence, Iowa, to Frank and Lorena (Neubauer) Kinney. He married Wanda Seemann in 1964 and had two children. They later divorced. In 1996, he married Carol Holz.

Chuck farmed most of his life (mainly in the Elkton, Minn., area) and did custom wheat harvesting out west.

Chuck and Carol lived in Rochester from 1996 to 2006 and moved to, Backus, Minn. They then moved back to the area in Dodge Center recently. He enjoyed fishing and his lake home, gardening, farming, hunting and his dog, Reba.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carol of Dodge Center; daughter, Kris (Don) Ramsden of Winona, Minn.; son, Jeff (Jodi) Kinney of Elkton; step-son, Jeff Holz of Dodge Center; step-daughter, Jill Robertson of West Concord, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Alice) Kinney, Brooke Kinney, Megan Kinney, Montanna Kinney, Renae Ramsden, Hunter Ramsden, Gunner Robertson, and Cora Robertson; one great-grandson, Bryson Kinney; and brother, Larry (Marilyn) Kinney of Iowa Falls, Iowa. Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, Dodge Center. Charles donated his body to Mayo Clinic’s Department of Anatomy for medical research.
