MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A former Twin Cities attorney has been ordered to pay $15 million to the trust of a teenager he sexually assaulted.

Forty-eight-year-old Aaron Biber is serving an 18-year prison sentence for assaulting his son’s friend, who was a neighbor. Court documents say Biber “groomed” the boy for sex beginning when he was 11 years old. The victim is now 15 and is receiving inpatient psychological treatment out of state.

Biber’s attorney, Robert Stich, said Wednesday that Biber no longer has any assets following a divorce and his criminal defense expenses. Stich says Biber has no plans to appeal the civil judgment.

Court records say Biber, a former partner at the Grant Plant Mooty, was disbarred. He was also treasurer of the Minnesota State Bar Association.

The Star Tribune says (http://bit.ly/iU5Qc8) Hennepin County District Judge Denise Reilly called Biber’s crime “utterly intolerable to a civilized community.”.
