Ren Fest riding up on 43rd year

The Minnesota Renaissance Festival is ramping up for its 43rd year with highlights ranging from fairies to highlanders and of course, food.

The Renaissance Festival, one of the largest themed events in the country, opens Aug. 17 and runs through Sept. 29 including Labor Day and Friday Sept. 27.

Aside from food and shows, the festival once again features themed weekends including the Royal Ale Fest on Aug. 24-25 and the Highland Fling on Sept. 7-8.

Gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through the festival’s run. Cost is $21.95 for adults, $12.95 for children and children 4 and under are free. Parking is also free.
