Get ready to run five kilometers this weekend, or 10 for those who are up to it, and get plastered with color in the process. The Welcome Center has its own colorful event planned next week, as well, and Pacelli will celebrate 100 years of its color and pride. It won’t be bland.
1. The Haitian Hustle
Lace up tight for Faith Evangelical Free’s Haitian Hustle 5K run and kids’ race this weekend. The event starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and goes until 11 a.m. The 5K for adults is $25, while the kids’ race is $10. The second annual event will offer prizes to the top three male and female finishers. Find out more at haitianhustle.com.
2. Fast color blast
Run like crazy. No, really. The Color Dash 5K, deemed “the brightest 5K” will be held this Sunday. Runners will be soaked with natural, safe paint.
Same-day registration will start at 12:30 p.m. the Downtown Power Plant. The race starts at 2 p.m. Online registration and a route map are available at www.thecolordash5k.com/austin-minnesota. Individuals can sign up for $30 each, and families can register for $70 per team, limited to six people living at the same address.
3.Welcome to … mosaics
Austin’s Welcome Center is holding a mosaics class from 5 to 7 p.m. at its office on downtown Main Street. Registration is required. Call Dora at 507-434-2863. The event is a partnership with the Semilla Project.
4. 100-year-old shamrock
Someone is turning 100. Actually, a school organization, Pacelli Catholic Schools, is 100, and staff and students are celebrating next Thursday, starting with a 7:30 a.m. mass. From there mix and mingle with coffee and rolls from 8 a.m. to noon, or tour the school at that time, as well.
