Poultry contest to take place at state fair

The Minnesota State Fair will host the Fourth Annual Poultry Prince and Princess Contest, from Aug. 22 to 25.
The contest will recognize the knowledge, leadership and skill of the state’s top poultry youth, and two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.
Contestants must go through an interview, quiz, showmanship competition and chicken Barbecue contest to compete. They also must have completed ninth grade.
At noon on Aug. 25, John Lauritsen, reporter for WCCO-TV, will host the award ceremony live at the sheep and poultry barn, and last year’s winners will be present to hand off the royal crowns and capes.
