LuAnn Soiney Allen, 52, passed away at her home on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013.

She was born in Austin, Minn., to Bob and Luella Soiney on June 19, l961. She graduated from Austin High School in 1979, and in 1983, she graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a degree in elementary education. Her son, Ryan Meyer, was born May 25, 1991.

LuAnn is survived by her husband Joe Allen, son Ryan, step sons Jeremy and Andrew Allen, parents Robert and Luella Soiney, sister Michelle Ahles, grandson William Meyer, nieces, nephews and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Jeffrey Soiney, grandparents Oscar and Georgia Soiney, Albert and Lydia Koepsell, Uncle Rich Soiney and Aunt Eunice Downey.

LuAnn taught language arts at Ellis Middle School for more than 26 years. She was a great teacher who was dedicated to her students and their learning. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Always the brightest smile in the room, LuAnn had a vibrant personality. Her spunk and enthusiasm rubbed off on those around her and made her the attraction at any gathering. Her devotion to her family was second to none. Many would say she was their “rock.” She supported all of those around her. She was a protector and worked so hard for herself and for her loved ones.

LuAnn’s greatest joy in life was her son Ryan. She encouraged him every step of the way and took great interest in everything Ryan was involved with. They had great conversations and loved spending time together. LuAnn loved Ryan very dearly. She also loved her Mom and Dad and other family members and kept in close touch with them.

LuAnn meticulously tended to her beautiful yard. She loved flowers and had many. She was artistic and kept a lovely and comfortable home. Hard work never stopped her. She also enjoyed her pets Puddy and Lilly.

LuAnn was very good to her family and a loyal friend. She was an energetic and strong person, and she kept her faith. She was very ill and died much too young. She will be most sorely missed and never forgotten.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father James Steffes officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be no visitation or reviewal before the service on Friday morning.
