Francis Walter Dorn, 68

The memorial service for Francis Walter Dorn will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Timothy T. Reker will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private family graveside will be held in Canton. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea veterans organizations.

Frank Dorn died on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness. He was 68 years old.

Frank was born on Feb. 13, 1945, in New Ulm, to Walter and Clara (Ollendick) Dorn. He graduated from Canton High School and was enlisted in the U.S Army. From 1965 to 1968 he was stationed in Denver, Colo., where he met his wife, Rosanna Morehouse. The two were married in Canton before returning to Denver and eventually settled down in Albert Lea in 1976.

Frank was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, the Legion, Elks and VFW. He worked 36 years as a parts salesman for Interstate Motor Trucks before retiring in April of 2010. He loved fishing, woodworking, gardening, travel and his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanna Dorn, of Albert Lea; children, Doug (Anna) Dorn of Holland, Mich., and Deb (Karl) Erickson of Rochester; grandchildren, Charlie, Nick and Claire Dorn and Emma, Ethan and Elise Erickson; brothers, and sisters, Audrey (LaVerne) Drache of Albert Lea, Doris (Bob) Nordheim of Menasha, Wis., Tom Dorn of Canton, Sharon Wildman of Bloomington and Joe Dorn of Canton; nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara; and his daughter, Clarissa Dorn.

Memorials are preferred to the family.
