Fall Dig entry deadline coming in September

The Adult Fall Dig entry deadline is set for Sept. 10.  You can register on or before the deadline day.

When registering you must have the team entry fee, roster and six player fees. If you were a manager last year you will receive a letter and roster in the mail.  If you were not a manager and would like info, call our office or visit www.ci.austin.mn.us.

Mower County’s Youth Activity Center will open at 3:30 p.m. on Sept 9. The YAC is located in the east rooms of Riverside arena. Enter from the northeast doors located on the parking lot side of the building.

The YAC hours are 3:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 1 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.  The YAC is open to students in grades 5 to 12 in Mower County.

Public skating will begin at Riverside Arena from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The cost to skate is $4 and $1 to rent skates.  Ask us about family or individual memberships. They can be purchased at our office or at the arena during open skates.

The following times are opportunities to start working on your hockey skills beginning Saturday:

•Learn to skate for ages 3 to 8.

•4-on-4 for those 7 to 9 or younger with two years experience

•Squirt 4-on-4

Girls ages 8 to 14 will also have an opportunity to join the over-speed training which will emphasize an increase in skating speed, stick handling and shooting at Riverside Arena.  The cost is $50 and will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m., and Sundays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., they will meet eight times.

Bantam and high school boys can get on the ice starting Sept. 11 to practice and perfect those hockey skills with the high school captains.

Sign up at the Parks and Recreation office before you take the ice.  The cost is $50.

You will meet at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 6:30 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 6.

Pre-registration is necessary for all hockey leagues and camps. Forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office.

We are starting our sign-up for the youth volleyball season that will begin in October for the fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade girls. Call our office for more information.
