I echo Billy Joel’s invitation and invite you to a new and unique event.

Next Saturday night, Sept. 21, The Hormel Historic Home will be transformed into an Italian restaurant for a night of entertainment.

Guests will enjoy a social time in the Historic Home with hors d’oeuvres and Italian accordion music performed by Peter Jacobs. Dinner will be served at 7 in “La Spereza” (otherwise known as the banquet hall).

The 17th Street Players, an Austin-based group, will take us through a comedic family scene that will have you guessing “whodunnit.” There will be a prize for the best sleuth.

Here’s a look into the setting of the play:

“Four days ago, restaurateur Guiseppe (Pepi) Roni was found murdered in the kitchen of his renowned New York City eatery, La Spereza. Pepi had been shot in the back with his own pistol. Tonight, his family and friends have gathered to pay their respects to poor Pepi and to eat a feast of Italian food in his honor.  One of them is the murderer!”

The cast includes Rocco Scarfazzi, Pepi’s twin brother, played by Dick McIntosh of Austin; Tara Misu, Rocco’s vivacious fiancée, played by Janet Luick of Rochester; Mama Rosa, Pepi’s grieving widow, played by Joanne Fox of Austin; Marco Roni, Pepi and Mama Rosa’s son, played by Tony Segura of Albert Lea; Angel Roni, Pepi and Mama Rosa’s beautiful daughter, played by Jessica Williams of Austin; and Bo Jalais, Cousin of Rocco’s, played by Gordy Handeland of Austin.

The 17th Street Players have entertainedspectators for many years so if you have not had a chance to enjoy one of their performances you can do so now. Tickets are $30 per person or a table of eight can be purchased for $200. Call the HHH to reserve your spot.
