Packer boys and girls take first in Mankato West cross country invite

The Austin boys and girls cross country teams each took first place at the Mankato West Invite Tuesday.
Austin’s Andrew Baker edged out his teammate Quin Brunner by two seconds to win the boys race for the Packers, who hadn’t won a boys invite in a couple of years.
“Andrew and Quin continue to run very well,” Austin head coach Tony Einertson said.
Austin’s Madison Overby took third in the girls race and eighth grader Paiton Schwab was just 12 seconds behind her at fourth place.
The Packer girls have now won two meets this season.
“Our number two, three, four and five runners are really stepping it up and they’re starting to close the gap between them and Madison,” Einertson said. “For us to be successful as a team, this is what we needed to happen.”
The Austin boys finished first out of seven teams with a score of 44 and Mankato west took second with a 51.
The Austin girls finished first out of six teams with a score of 36 to edge out Mankato West, which posted a 55.
