The Austin Police Department was busy Monday morning, removing methamphetamine from the streets in three different cases.

According to the police reports, officers arrested a 24-year-old Austin man with a total of 0.84 grams of meth shortly after midnight in the area of 10th Street and First Avenue Northeast. The suspect was allegedly stopped for a traffic violation but now may face fifth-degree drug and third-degree DWI charges, along with charges for drug paraphernalia and driving after revocation.

About an hour later, an officer reportedly saw a car parked in the wrong direction with its lights on in the area of Eighth Street and First Avenue Northwest. According to the report, two men in the car, 25 and 27, shut the lights off as the officer approached, ducked and appeared to stash items. The officer called for backup and ordered both suspects back in the car when they tried to exit. After searching the vehicle, police allegedly found 8.85 grams of meth, baggies, paraphernalia and $701 in cash. The suspects may also face felony drug charges.

At about 3:20 a.m., officers then received a report about two suspicious men in the the 1000 block of 13th Ave. Northeast. One suspect reportedly got back in the vehicle after seeing officers. Officers approached the suspects and activated their lights. One officer saw a gun in the car and a large amount of narcotics in plain sight, the report added. Police reportedly confiscated 10.7 grams of meth and a 4.5 mm BB gun. The 29-year-old driver was arrested and jailed. The other suspect was cited for drug paraphernalia and released.
