Boys soccer: Packers beat Falcons with a PK

The Austin boys soccer team made a penalty kick opportunity count in a 1-0 win at Faribault (3-9 overall, 0-8 Big Nine) Tuesday.
Austin junior Roel Torres scored the lone goal of the night when he connected on a penalty kick early in the second half and Austin keeper Abraham Manzano stopped all three of the shots he saw on the night to shutout the Falcons.
The Packers (5-6-3 overall, 2-5-2 Big Nine) were called for off-sides 10 times in the match, which slowed their attack down.
“That’s not typical at all to have that many off-sides,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “We probably should’ve had a PK in the first half too, but we can’t control that.”
The Packers now have four shutouts on the season and they will host Rochester John Marshall for parent’s night Thursday at 7 p.m.
