An Austin teen faces a felony charge after allegedly stealing her mother’s car.

According to the police report, the mother told Austin police her daughter had stolen her car from the apartment parking lot where she lives on Wednesday afternoon. The mother wanted to press charges, as well. An officer later discovered the car was parked back at the apartment complex on Friday morning and informed the mother, who didn’t know that.

Officers later tried to find the daughter in a locked bedroom inside an apartment; however, nobody would answer. The mother did not have a key for the bedroom, but an officer was able to enter and found the suspect hiding under a blanket, according to the report. Officers arrested the teen and transported her to the Mower County jail.
