Dean Arnold Siewert, 81, of Dexter, Minn., died peacefully Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Dexter, Minn., to William and Lila (Boeff) Siewert. Dean graduated from Elkton High School in 1948 and was a lifelong Dexter area farmer. On Nov. 22, 1953, Dean married LaVonne Peach at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkton. The couple raised five children. Dean was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Elkton, where he served as a bell ringer. He also was a member of the Dexter Lions Club and Monitor Neighborhood card club. Dean enjoyed old-time music, Hawaiian shirts, driving his big Mercurys and sharing his words of wisdom with his family. He was always reading the newspaper and discussing current events.

Survivors include his wife, LaVonne Siewert of Dexter; his children, Randolph Siewert of Dexter, Cynthia (Daniel) Evenson of Stockholm, Wis., Sylvia (Robert) Collins of Bakersfield, Calif., Carmon (Sharon) Siewert of Austin; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lila Siewert; his son, DuWayne and brother, William.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkton with Pastor Liz Erickson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Elkton. The family prefers memorials be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church of Elkton. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
