Camp opportunity coming soon for youth wrestlers

Wrestlers in grades 6 to 12 will have the opportunity to participate in a camp on Oct. 26 from noon to 7 p.m. and Oct. 27 from 10 to 5 p.m.
The camp will feature Nate Thomas, Dustin Schlatter and Tim Hackel, and will be held at Ellis Middle School.

You still have time to sign up for our non-traveling basketball league on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Banfield Elementary School.
This league will begin Oct.22 through Dec. 10 for students in second through sixth grade. You must preregister at the Park and Recreation office prior to the first night; cost is $17 per person.
Sign up has started for the youth volleyball that will begin on Saturday mornings starting Oct. 26 for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade girls.
They will meet on Saturday mornings through Dec. 14 with no class on Nov. 30. The cost is $20. Call our office for more information.
Your next public skate opportunity will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Arena.
The cost to skate is $4 and $1 to rent skates if you need them. Inquire about family or individual memberships. They can be purchased at our office or at the Arena during open skates.
Yes it is early to start talking about joining our youth archery league in January. These classes are held on Wednesday or Thursday evenings and fill up fast. The cost is $40 and held in the 4-H building at the Mower County Fairgrounds.
Austin Youth Basketball is currently taking registration with a deadline of Oct. 27.
You can find a printable form on its website, www.austinyouth basketball.org. You can mail or drop the registration and money off at our Parks and Recreation office, Games People Play or South Central Athlete.
Check out the Austin Bruin’s at Riverside Arena. Their next home game will be Oct. 25. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
Visit the Youth Activity Center located in the east rooms of Riverside arena. Enter from the northeast doors located on the parking lot side of the building.
The YAC hours are 3:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 1 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The YAC is open to students in grades 5 to 12 in Mower County.
