Vera Knauer-York (Hopfe), 91, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2013, with her devoted family by her side, in Peoria, Ariz.

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Vera is preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Edith Hopfe, brothers, Kenneth and Robert Hopfe, sister, Margaret Sherman, and husbands, Dick Knauer and Ed York.

She is survived by: three sisters, Shirley Millenacker, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Beverly Hargis, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; and Lois Freeberg-Requa, of Austin, Minn.; as well as son, Allan (Adella) Knauer, daughter, Sandra (Tom) Adams, and grandchildren Cyndi, Allana, Kristi and Troy along with six great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Vera was originally from Austin where she and her husband, Dick, owned and ran, Midway Car Sales, the Riviera Restaurant, and Town and Country Dress Shop. Vera was known for her style and great cooking. She will be remembered for her genuine smile, her positive outlook, and her love of people. Sincere thanks to Hospice of the Valley, the staff at Plaza del Rio Care Center as well as the staff at Encore Assisted Living.
