A global positioning system unit valued at around $12,000 was reported stolen from a tractor left overnight in a field.

Steve Lonergan said he left his Caterpillar tractor in the field a quarter mile west of 505th Avenue and a half mile south of County Road 5 just before midnight Tuesday while harvesting. When he came back at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday he noticed the Trimble Auto Steer GPS unit was missing.

The unit had been installed in the tractor at the time of purchase.
