Agnes Elaine Markham, 93

Agnes Elaine Markham, 93, died Nov. 15, 2013, in Pineville, N.C., of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 23, 1920, to Simon and Elda Simonson. She was married to Kenneth Markham on April 10, 1943. She graduated from high school in Rolfe, Iowa, and received her bachelor’s degree from Winona State University, followed by her master’s degree at Minnesota State University — Mankato. Agnes worked as a sixth-grade teacher at St. Augustine Catholic Schools and in Lyle, Minn. She was also a media generalist at Blooming Prairie Public Schools. She was a member of AAUW, Extention Club, and many activities at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Minn. She enjoyed reading and cooking.

She is survived by Virginia (David) Haney, of Longmont, Colo., Elizabeth (Russel) Nelson, Fort Mill, S.C., and Gerald Markham, Owatonna, Minn.; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Jon.
