Thief reportedly nabs purse, takes ID and credit cards

Austin police are looking for a purse snatcher.

A woman reported Tuesday morning that a thief stole her purse while she was getting into her car at the 1000 block of Seventh Avenue Northeast, Austin.

Police received the call at 5:42 a.m. Tuesday, and brought a K-9 to help track the thief. Police found a purse north of the residence, along with a drill. They returned the purse to the victim, who said she was missing her Mexican consulate card, along with two Walmart credit cards, the report added. The woman’s husband checked the garage, from which the drill was reportedly stolen.

Police have no suspects at this time. The woman said the thief was about 6 feet tall, 220 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The woman added she couldn’t see his face.
