In the spirit of this Thanksgiving season, I want to thank the Austin community for showing their outpouring of support for our recent levy referendum renewal.
We sincerely appreciate the willingness of those who posted yard signs, delivered door hangers and especially the voters who made it to the polls. We do not take for granted the support we receive from this community and will, of course, continue to work hard to provide a high-quality education for all students.
We at Austin Public Schools also want to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to all veterans for their service to our country. A special thank you goes out to the many veterans who made the trip to our schools on snowy Veteran’s Day to join our students for breakfast. Sharing your time and experiences is a valuable gift to these young people.
Finally, the week of Nov. 18-22 is the 92nd annual observance of American Education Week, so please join me in celebrating the teachers and staff who make a difference for our youth each and every day.
