Bill Barnes left this world on Nov. 14, 2013, after a long illness.

131124 Obits Bill was born March 22, 1957, to Betty and Doug Hronek in Seattle, Wash.

Bill attended school in Pullman and then joined the Army where he received his high school diploma.

Bill’s lifetime job was as a concrete finisher, which he called his “Labor of Love.” He also donated his expertise in concrete finishing to Habitat for Humanity.

Bill loved the outdoors, hiking, swimming, camping, road trips, traveling, fishing, paddling the canoe on the Snake and Palouse rivers and making leather purses and jewelry for the girls. He also loved music and dancing.

Bill and Kathryn were married in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 21, 1979.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathryn (Kat) of Moscow; his sons, Forrestt and Karl Barnes of Moscow and Jason (Chelsea) Brenegan of Lewiston; and his daughter, Alice (Mike) Krogstrand of Moscow. He is survived by two granddaughters, Cassidy Brenegan of Lewiston and Hadliegh Barnes of Moscow. He is also survived by his parents, Betty and Doug Hronek; and two sisters, Joy Mae (Carl) Lawson and Brenda (Bill) Johnson all of Las Vegas; his parents’ in-laws Bud and Wanda Overby of Austin, Minn.; numerous aunts uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a huge extended family.

Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held March 22, 2014, with the destination to be announced later.

A “Bill Barnes” memorial fund has been set up at Sterling Savings at Sixth and Washington streets in Moscow.
