The American Association of University Women, Austin Branch, is calling all women with a two-year or higher degree who want to join the organization.
The organization promotes equity for all women, lifelong education, and positive societal change. Local branch co-presidents are Sue Grove (507-433-5464) and Marijo Alexander (507-433-0606). Monthly meetings are the second Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Everyone receives a branch newsletter. Scholarships from AAUW are provided for Riverland students from the fall Tour of Homes and the spring used book sale.
The monthly meeting programs are directed by Carla Anderson-Diekmann and Yesenia Mendoza, and include informational presentations about various subjects.
There are also a number of small groups tailored to specific interests: travel, first-Friday lunch, morning book group, evening book group, great decisions and knitting.
For those who would like to join, membership fees are half price in January. Contact Catherine Lemons – 612-708-0183 or Kathy Kester 437-2065.
Also, people are welcome to find out more at a holiday social on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Coffee House on Main.
