MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Minnesota freshman found dead near campus in subzero weather grew up in Orono where he was a leader on the high school varsity lacrosse team.
The body of 19-year-old Jacob Anderson was found Sunday along the Mississippi River near the Stone Arch Bridge. Police say no foul play was involved.
The Hennepin County medical examiner says the cause and manner of death are pending further studies.
Anderson was enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and lived in Pioneer Hall. Liberal Arts interim dean Raymond Duvall encouraged students to watch out for each other.
Anderson was goalie of the Orono High School lacrosse team that won the Section 8 championship this year. His coach says Anderson’s death is a shock to everyone.
