Thank you to the Yoga Studio of Austin and the more than 30 people who participated in the Winter Solstice Yoga Mala.
We raised $600 for the new Austin ArtWorks Center.
The Austin Area Commission for the Arts will be hosting another fundraiser for the center on Friday, Jan. 17-18. More information to come in the new year.
Tickets are still available for the Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. They can be purchased online at paramounttheatre.org or at the Historic Paramount Theatre an hour and a half before the show.
This year’s Vegas-style show features Denny Charnecki and the DC Drifters, Amanda Corey, Joy Riley, and Neil Diamond tribute artist Kevin Eastburn.
The Austin Area Commission for the Arts is also proud to present the first ever movie series brought to you by Knutson Construction.
We are launching the series in celebration of the 85th anniversary of the Historic Paramount Theatre, which opened on Sept. 14, 1929. All of the movies featured in the series will be movies that were shown at the Paramount over the years.
Jan. 9: We are still finalizing the title, but it will be a movie from the 1930s.
Feb. 20: “Ziegfeld Girl,” which features James Stewart and Judy Garland.
March 20: “An American in Paris”
April 17: “The Ten Commandments”
May 22: Godfather Part 2, the last movie shown at the Paramount before it closed.
Sept. 13: Special Movie Fundraiser to celebrate the 85th Anniversary
Oct. 31: “Night of the Living Dead”
Dec. 18: Special holiday movie
All the movies will start at 7:30 p.m. and tickets will be $5.
