Mower County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for someone who shot a cat with a bow and arrow in Rose Creek Friday afternoon.
Sheriff Terese Amazi said someone reported a cat shot with an arrow at Fourth Street Southwest near Ash Street Southwest at about 3:40 p.m. Friday. The male, gray cat was still alive, but had been shot through the abdomen.
Deputies took the cat to the Austin Vet Clinic. After an examination, veterinarians found the arrow had pierced the cat’s spinal cord and the cat had lost too much blood. The cat was euthanized.
Amazi said there are no suspects at this time. The arrow is a black Easton-brand hunting arrow, with yellow tiger-striped fletching — feather-like protrusions on the back — and a green nock.
