ST. PAUL — The Minnesota House minority leader has headed off a “no confidence” vote by Republican leaders in his district after he explained details of his arrest in Montana.

Republicans in Kurt Daudt’s District 31 weren’t happy he failed to talk to them about the arrest last September. Daudt, of Crown, was briefly detained by Montana authorities last September when a deal to buy a vintage truck soured and a friend accompanying him displayed the lawmaker’s gun.

GOP leaders planned to vote Tuesday night. Daudt appeared unexpectedly and discussed the Montana incident.

Local Republican leader Tony Crego said after talking with Daudt, they felt a vote was not needed.
