Diane K. Bawek, 57, of Austin, Minn., died at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.

She was born Jan. 25, 1956, in Austin to V.J. and Faye (Nelson) Harrington. Diane was a graduate of Austin High School, and went on to earn her cosmetology degree from Austin Community College. She was united in marriage to Don Nystel on Oct. 28, 1972. They later divorced. She married Mike Bawek on June 18, 1988. For many years, Diane had been part owner and operator of Adam & Eve Hair Styling in Austin. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and creating stained glass and other crafts, and loved blues music. Diane was very proud of establishing Cancer Courage Support Group in Austin.

Survivors include her children, Haylie Bawek, of Austin; Don (Kim) Nystel, of Austin; and Dustin (Molly) Nystel, of Woodbury, Minn.; grandchildren, Lilly, Fayth, Madison, and Elijah; parents, V.J. “Bud” and Faye Harrington, of Austin; siblings, Dan (Molly) Harrington, of Edina, Minn.; Duane (Sherrie) Harrington, of Burnsville, Minn.; Dawn (Mike) Nelson, of Lake City, Minn.; and Dean (Lynda) Harrington, of Cottage Grove, Minn.; her companion for the last seven years, Brian Leuning, of Austin; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. Bawek, on Dec. 12, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and will continue Monday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at church.

Interment will be at Lansing Cemetery in the spring.
