Start preparing now for Day at the Capitol

Published 5:24 pm Saturday, February 1, 2014

The agenda for 2014 Disability Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, March 18, is taking shape.

The program begins at 10:30 a.m. with a legislative briefing in the State Capitol Rotunda for attendees. At 11 a.m., we will rally in the Rotunda and get energized to visit our legislators. The rally will be done by noon, when attendees can eat lunch and visit their legislators.

Set up a visit with your state legislators for that day. Much of the Capitol is being renovated and is unavailable for our use this year.

Let someone know that you care and support the work of The Arc Mower County by supporting our 19th annual Rose Sale from Feb. 10 to March 14, 2014. You can place your order at www.thearcmc.org.

All proceeds from The Arc’s Rose Sale benefit children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Autism and Epilepsy.

One in ten families has a member with a disability. Your participation in Arc’s Rose Sale provides critical funding for programs and services.

Pick-up & delivery date is April 1 from 1 0 to 5 p.m.

Any level of support is appreciated. Here are a few suggestions:

•At your work — Coordinate a pre-sale rose sale! You can pre-sell roses by emailing your co-workers and encouraging them to order. Call The Arc with a group rose order and the roses can be delivered to your office

•In your neighborhood — Ask your neighbors, friends and family to order roses.

•Brighten someone’s day — Order roses to give to your customers or employees to show how much you appreciate them.

•Volunteer — Rose Sale coordinators are needed throughout Austin and the surrounding communities to coordinate rose sales at local churches, businesses, etc.

•In School — School groups can sell individual roses to support their peers that attend activities.

You can also order your roses online at www.thearcmc.org.
