The Mower County Board of Commissioners approved an additional four budgeted positions for the county’s Health and Human Services department during its public meeting Tuesday.

Board members approved social worker and administrative positions to help county employees keep up with a burgeoning workload. Health and Human Services Executive Director Julie Stevermer requested seven new positions during the budgeting process last year, but the board approved four for consideration.

“It’s really exciting,” Stevermer said.

The board also approved several fill-in positions for employees on leave or about to retire.
