An Austin man who had 29 grams of methamphetamine in his home was sentenced to 41 months in prison Thursday in Mower County Court.
Pablo Juarez-Perez, 35, was convicted of second-degree drug possession, while three other drug and forgery charges were dismissed.
Although the aggravated forgery charges were dropped, Juarez-Perez must cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and could likely be deported after he completes his prison sentence.
Juarez-Perez was at a residence on East Oakland Avenue when a search warrant was executed Feb. 28, according to a court complaint. He provided police with a state of Minnesota identification card and a Cargill work identification card in the name of Pedro Pena. He told officers that Pena is his “work name at Cargill.”
Police then searched Juarez-Perez’s home in the 400 block of Fifth Place Northwest, where they found a Social Security card in the Pena name, a Social Security card in his true name, a bag containing 29 grams of meth and several other forms of identification.
After reviewing his criminal history, police found that Juarez-Perez holds several other aliases, has been arrested in several states and was previously deported from the United States at least once, according to court documents.
