The Hayfield girls basketball team lost 74-63 at Kasson-Mantorville (17-4 overall, 11-2 HVL) Friday.
The loss puts the Vikings (16-5 overall, 10-4 HVL) in a tough spot in the HVL Gold race. They now trail by the first place Komets by two games. Hayfield has two conference games left this season and KM has three conference games left.
KM pulled away from Hayfield mid-way through the second half and the Vikings couldn’t get closer than nine down the stretch.
“”They can play just about any style and they have a good point guard that was able to penetrate against us,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “When we don’t shoot well from the outside, we’re going to struggle.”
