Dayton team to put forward ‘Unsession’ ideas

ST. PAUL — Gov. Mark Dayton’s administration is laying out a list of ideas for pruning Minnesota’s statute of duplicative, outdated or problematic laws.
The so-called “unsession” agenda is likely to touch most areas of state government. Three Dayton commissioners were planning to roll it out Tuesday.
Dayton has made a high-profile call to peel back old laws as part of this short session. Many of the changes are expected to cover behind-the-scenes process for issuing permits or licenses.
It’s not clear if the ideas will move through the Legislature in small batches or stay part of a comprehensive package. The latter route might make it susceptible to political mischief because any amendments on almost any topic could be considered in order.
