On March 19, Mayer Funeral Home held its first annual Ladies Appreciation Luncheon at the Hormel Historical Home. The event was to honor the women who prepare and serve funeral luncheons.

“All of us at Mayer Funeral Home wanted to put on an event that honored the ladies that take time out of their day to create and serve funeral luncheons.” funeral director Kathy Dufault said in a press release.

Funeral director Eric Weerts said the ladies and the luncheons help start the healing process.

“The funeral luncheon is very helpful to the bereaved because after the somber event of the burial, comes the food, fellowship and most importantly, sharing of memories about the deceased. It is a chance for friends and family alike to come together,” Weerts said in the release. “It is where the healing process starts for the family.”

Jack Koppa and Scott Borchers added musical entertainment to the event, and the funeral home staff gave door prizes to the ladies. About 120 ladies attended the event.
