Thank you to everyone who attended last week’s events at the Paramount and proposed location of the Austin ArtWorks Center.

It felt great to be part of a community that could support classic films, ballet, and a motorcycle art show all in one weekend. A special thank you to Andrew Hull, Jeremy Pedersen and Nick Pedersen for helping organize the Build Art Bike Show.

The Historic Paramount Theatre Stage is currently being set for the Matchbox Children’s Theatre production of “After the Rain King.” Directed by Lucas Johnson, the story follows young Glory (Lydia Wik), who accidentally opens an old, locked book and unleashes the Rain King (Matt King) who kidnaps her friend Pete (Hugh Olson) and disappears back into the book. Glory and her friends jump into the book to rescue Pete and find themselves jumping from story to story.

Their journey finds them battling pirates on Treasure Island, helping young Arthur pull the sword from the stone, becoming bugs, and more.

Come to the Paramount at 7 p.m. on April 11 and 2 p.m. on, April 12 and 13 to find out if Glory is able to save Pete and the world from this dangerous monster.

Tickets are $5 for youth 14 and under and $7 for adults. They can be purchased online at austinareaarts.org, or in person at the Historic Paramount Box Office open Tuesday-Friday 12-5 PM.
