William O. Nelson, 94

William O. Nelson, 94, of Austin, Minn., passed away Friday April 11, 2014, of natural causes at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus in Rochester, Minn. Bill was born April 6, 1920, in Sanborn, Iowa, to Enoch and Ellen (Johnson) Nelson. He attended school in Sanborn, met and married Ruth Steuck on June 9, 1940, and farmed in Iowa until 1950. They moved to Minnesota, settled and farmed in Waltham where they were happily married for 74 years. To this union two children were born, Dennis Nelson and Vicki Steen. Bill retired from farming in 1970, and moved to a house in Austin, Minn. Bill was a good natured family man and a dedicated farmer.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Nelson of Austin; and children Dennis (Diane) Nelson of Waltham, Minn.; and Vicki (Lowell) Steen of Blue Earth, Minn.; seven grandchildren; Troy, Terri, Todd, Toni, Alan, Amy and April; 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three sister-in-laws and many other wonderful relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Art Nelson, sister-in-law Erna Nelson, five sisters, Elsie Eide, Gladys Koenen, Evelyn Dummett, Vi Wilhite and Doris Moore and five brother-in-laws.

A private family service will be held after cremation with Rev Jeff Sage, officiating. Memorials may be sent to Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 411 West Main Street, Brownsdale, MN, 55918.
