The Hayfield baseball team scored more runs on Monday than had in its first four games combined as it crushed Schaeffer Academy (1-2 overall) 30-0 in five innings in Hayfield.
The Vikings (2-3 overall) scored 10 runs in the first inning before they recorded an out and Cole Kruger hit a grand slam to cap that rally.
Hayfield finished with 25 hits in a game that saw the team on the field since 10 a.m. as they had to prepare the field after an overnight rain.
“It was nice for all of our guys to get together for the day,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “We had a huge first inning. Schaeffer struggled with their pitching, but when they did throw strikes we hit it well.”
