The Commonweal Theatre Company will present the classic American comedy, “Arsenic and Old Lace,” May 16 through Sept. 6 with discounted tickets available for previews May 9 to May 15.
The New York Times called it, “a play so funny, that none of us will ever forget it,” and now the play is getting The Commonweal treatment.
Things are not quite what they seem in the home of Abby and Martha Brewster, and when their nephew Mortimer uncovers a secret in their window seat, the mayhem truly begins. The production is directed by Tod Petersen, who joins the Commonweal ensemble for the 2014 season having previously directed “The Nutcracker” and the “Mouse King” for the company in 2005.
The cast of 11 includes members from all areas of the ensemble and features resident ensemble member Catherine Glynn in the role of Martha Brewster and seasonal actress Patty Mathews making her Commonweal debut as Abby Brewster. Other Commonweal resident ensemble members also featured in the cast include Hal Cropp, Scott Dixon, David Hennessey and Jeremy van Meter.
All performances are at the Commonweal Theatre, 208 Parkway Avenue North, in downtown Lanesboro.
Ticket prices are $30 with discounts available for students and groups of ten or more.
