Austin High School students aim to raise support for The Hormel Institute’s breast cancer research with an annual 5K run/walk in May.
The Austin High School Youth Leadership Club will host its fourth annual “Strides for a Cure” run/walk 5K on Saturday, May 17 at the Northwest entrance of Todd Park, 2400 11th St. NE.
This year also features a five-mile race, as well as a kid’s race. The race kickoff is at 8:40 a.m., the race begins at 9 a.m., and the kids’ race is at 10:30 a.m.
Early registration by Friday, May 2, guarantees a T-shirt and lower registration fee for select races. Participants may also sign up the day of the event.
Registration fees range from $15-$35.
A prize drawing will follow the 5K run/walk and 5-mile races. Strollers are allowed for the walk portion but bicycles, inline skates and pets are prohibited.
All funds go toward The Hormel Institute’s breast cancer research for cancer prevention and control.
