Jayes to visit Senior Center

Published 6:29 pm Saturday, May 10, 2014

For more than 30 years, Jim Jayes has been entertaining with his unique combination of magic and puppetry. At 1 p.m. on Wednesday we are happy to announce he will be entertaining at the Senior Center.

This Sacramento, Calif. native, who makes all of his own puppets and props, has performed in almost any situation you can name, including: schools (preschools to college age groups), comedy clubs, circuses, fairs, shopping malls, business trade shows, family parties and libraries.

In 1997, Jim moved to the Austin area where he lives with his wife Cindy and their two daughters. He is also a designer and inventor of magic tricks which are currently in the programs of countless performers around the world. Everyone is invited to this fun program. There is no charge.

It’s time to get your fishing equipment out and check it over. Fishing season is upon us. If you find yourself wanting some new lures we have a deal for you.

At 9 a.m. on Tuesday Travis Stayton will be with us again. He’s been in business since 2008, and sold at least one lure in each direction of the compass in the United States. His work has also been recognized by people such as Babe Winkleman, Paul Jr. Designs, and recently by Benny Spies from the tv show Gun It, and Shannon “Lefty” Larsen of the NBC sports show “Lip ’Em N Rip ’Em” along with a radio show of the same name found on milehiradio.com. His most popular selling lures now are the DragonFly, and Special Water Assault Tackle lures. If you would like more information on the great outdoors, you can go to their website at: www.homeofthebraveoutdoors.com or come see Travis and tell him your best fishing story.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday, we will goulash hotdish in the coffee shop starting at 11:30 a.m. for $2. You are always welcome at the center.
