The Austin City Council will hear a proposal to upgrade its website this week.

The council will discuss a proposed request for proposal developed by city staff and local website developers during its work session Monday. The proposal is part of a larger effort to upgrade the city’s website — something the council has hoped to tackle for several years.

In addition, council members will also hear potential parking solutions for a new Spam Museum, which will open in downtown Austin in 2016. Some solutions could include swapping parking spaces with Mower County to create RV/camper parking, among other things.

The council will also discuss a Fire Civil Service Commission recommendation to promote Austin firefighter Troy Tigner to fire commander for the Austin Fire Department. Tigner could replace Commander Brian Lovik, who is set to retire at the end of this month.
