This extra-long weekend is filled with things to do, from seeing a theatrical performance, getting a taste for fresh produce, and honoring veterans on Memorial Day, there’s sure to be something fun for the whole family.

1. “Art”

7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, Marion Ross Performing Arts Center

Three men explore friendship and artistry with the help of a blank canvas in a play coming to Albert Lea this week. Jerry Girton, James Douglass and Steve Bowron — who all work at Riverland Community College in Austin — will perform in the play “Art.” The story involves three men. One buys an all-white painting for $200,000, and the other two men make fun of him for his purchase. Their friendship is strained as the play explores what art really is.

2. Farmers Market Place

9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 24, Oak Park Mall

Come get fresh fruits and vegetables, along with soaps, eggs, meat and more. The Farmer’s market hosts local vendors selling locally, homegrown and homemade products.

3. Austin Area Farmers Market

9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 24, Corner of Oakland Ave. and Fourth Street NE

The market carries many different items, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, pork, beef, chicken, eggs, honey, apples, soaps and lotions, salad dressings, massage oils, and crafts.

4. Honor the Flag

7:45 a.m., Monday, May 26, Veteran’s Memorial – Mower County Courthouse

Honor the American Flag and all it stands for as it is raised on Memorial Day. A Memorial Day program will follow to honor those who died serving their country.

5. Parade

8:45 a.m., Monday, May 26, Fourth Ave. NE, South on Main St. and East on Second Ave. NE
