Murl Loecher, 88, of Austin, Minn., died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at her home.

Murl Wignes was born June 14, 1927, in Adams, Minn., the daughter of Reuben and Josephine (Boe) Wignes. She attended Austin High School and married Herbert Loecher on Nov. 1, 1947, in Austin.

Murl was a homemaker. She worked for the Geo. A. Hormel Co., and she was also a clerk and manager at the Stevenson’s Clothing Store in Austin. Along with her husband, she was co-owner of Herb and Murl’s Lunch Stand at the Mower County Fair for 55 years. Murl was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spent summers on Mission Lake in Merrifield, Minn., and winters in Mission, Texas. She enjoyed being with family and friends, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Lana Jaeger; four sisters; and one brother.

Murl is survived by her husband Herb Loecher, Austin, Minn.; children Gary (Lynette) Loecher, Austin, Minn., Sandra (Mike) Rocca, Naples, Fla., and Barbara (David) Granholm, Austin, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Odermann officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, and at the church for one hour before the service on Monday. Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Health Systems Austin Hospice Program or to St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
