He was born May 11, 1924, in Decorah, Iowa, to Harry and Gina (Ramsey) Erickson. From an early age Art grew up in the Albert Lea Area. On May 25, 1947, Art married Anna Mae Anderson at East Freeborn Lutheran Church in rural Albert Lea. For the first 10 years of their marriage they farmed near Chester, Iowa, before moving to their farm in Blooming Prairie Township, Steele County. Art retired from farming in 1979, and in 1990 he and Anna moved into Blooming Prairie. He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2258 in Albert Lea. Art enjoyed his home and “tinkering” in the garage. He loved animals, especially his two cats, and often cared for strays and neglected animals when needed. In their younger days, he and Anna enjoyed dancing to polka music, and Saturday night dances at the Albert Lea Eagles Club.

Survivors include his children, David (Marie) Erickson of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Nancy (Brad) Clark of Blooming Prairie; grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Bruggeman of Austin, and David Clark of Winona; great-grandson, Casey Bruggeman; brothers, Norton (Ruby) Erickson of North Branch, Dale Erickson of Arden Hills, and Glenn (Diane) Erickson of Maple Grove.
