Austin girls take ninth at Big Nine track meet

The Austin girls track and field team had some strong individual performances, as it took ninth out of ten teams at the Big Nine invite in Winona Friday.

Abby Snater, a sophomore, set a new school record in the pole vault with a height of 10-8 and that earned her all-conference honors. The state standard for pole vault is 10-7, so if Snater reaches 10-8 at the section meet, she will advance to the state meet.

Austin’s Carolyn Hackel, an eighth grader, took fifth in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash. Hackel set personal best times in both events at the meet.
