LaVaine Helen Ann Linbo, 90, passed away on June 16, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, St. Mary’s Campus.
LaVaine was born on Sept. 6, 1923, the daughter of Anton and Edith (Haukom) Tiegen in Oslo, Minn. She attended Hayfield Schools. LaVaine was united in marriage to John Linbo on Nov. 12, 1942, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Hayfield. She and John raised four children. LaVaine did painting and papering for many years. She was an active member of Evanger Lutheran Church and served on the City Council in Sargeant. LaVaine loved bowling, socializing, shopping, flowers, and gardening.
LaVaine is survived by two sons, Daniel (Diane) Linbo, Sargeant, Minn., and Kevin (Georgena) Linbo, Hayfield, Minn.; one daughter, Rose Marie (Bruce) Mortenson, Minnetonka, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Tamara (Bruce) Goodman, Todd (Tracy) Linbo, Kirk (Rachel) Linbo, Scott (Liz) Linbo, Brett (Caliann) Linbo, Craig (Kari) Linbo, Melissa (Tim) Achman, Kate (Brian) Coleman, Gretchen (Jeff) Becker; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Edith Tiegen; husband, John Linbo; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cindy Linbo; one brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Alice Tiegen.
The funeral service for LaVaine Helen Ann Linbo will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 660th Avenue, Sargeant, MN, with the Rev. Dwight DoBell officiating. Interment will be in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW, Hayfield, MN, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
