Mary ‘Myrtle’ Jacobson, 94, of Blooming Prairie, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Prairie Manor Care Center.

She was born April 7, 1920, in Newry Township, Freeborn County, Minn., to Thomas B. and Mary Ellen (Martin) Coughlin. Myrtle attended country school. On June 5, 1935, she married Lawrence Jacobson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newry. Myrtle worked at the Blooming Prairie SuperValu for 25 years. A member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church, Myrtle enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafts, and needlework.

Survivors include her daughters Rosemarie Jacobson and Darlene Madson, both of Blooming Prairie; one son-in-law Gerald Srsen of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister Kathleen (Jim) Coughlin-Murphy of Faribault; two brothers, Charles (Loretta) Coughlin of Blooming Prairie, Clair (Pauline) Coughlin of Osseo, Minn.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary Ellen Coughlin; her husband Lawrence Jacobson in 1990; son Kenneth; daughter Evelyn; granddaughter Susan Elizabeth; and seven brothers, Leo, Francis, Mark, Howard, Gerald, Paul, and Robert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie, with Fr. Steven Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and will continue on Thursday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Private interment will be in St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery. Memorials in Myrtle’s memory can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice, or to the Jacobson Family. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
