More reports are surfacing about criminal damage to property during the harvest.
According to Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi, four more reports have been made of windshields being smashed in personal vehicles and farm equipment parked in fields, while the owners were operating harvest vehicles.
“More than one subject appears to be involved, judging by the footprints at the scene,” Amazi said.
Apparently baseball bats are used to break the windshields of vehicles parked in farm field driveways or along the roadway.
The reports have come from Adams, LeRoy, Waltham, Sargeant and Rose Creek.
The sheriff estimated the damages in excess of $12,000.
Amazi is asking the public for help in solving the crimes.
Anyone who has information about the vandalism incidents or whom has seen suspicious vehicles and people in the area of harvest activity is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately at 437-9400.
The incidents have occurred both overnight and during daylight harvest activities.
One of the reports came from Dan Mallory who told authorities the windshields on a bulldozer and excavator were smashed.
Mallory has offered his own $250 reward for the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the vandalism.
